PCBs in the Upper Hudson River: The Science Behind the Controversy Press Release Adobe Acrobat Format HTML Format View Report in Adobe Acrobat format (244 kb - 47 pages)
The Hudson River Foundation assembled a group of independent scientific experts to examine the scientific record with regard to key issues in the debate about active remediation of PCBs in the Upper Hudson River. The Foundation’s intention in undertaking this effort was to provide, to the extent possible, clarification of the scientific information pertinent to a policy decision regarding dredging. This resulting white paper, entitled PCBs in the Upper Hudson River: The Science Behind the Controversy, arises from the Foundation’s core purpose: to make science integral to decision-making with regard to the Hudson River and its watershed and to support competent stewardship of this extraordinary resource.
The conclusions presented in this document are those of the
scientists and were not directed by the Foundation. In
light of both the expertise and independence of the authors and
the importance of the issue that they have addressed, their
report deserves serious consideration.
